The DMV isn’t exactly a place you want to spend more time than you have to. However, it is a gold mine of information about vehicle purchasing and registration. If you have any questions about anything, even unrelated to DMV-type issues, most people who work there will know a thing or two. I recently had a surprisingly good experience at the DMV while I was waiting to get my driver’s license renewed. I mentioned to the man helping me that I was about to buy a new car and he gave me some great advice. He told me of the best dealerships in the area, and which people and places to avoid. He mentioned that I should take a look at online forums and classifieds. He also told me about auto dealer bonds and how helpful they can be in the car buying process. I took his advice and got a great deal on my brand new car last weekend. Not everyone who works at the DMV has an attitude problem. As long as you approach them in a friendly manner (which is difficult to do, considering the uncomfortable and annoying circumstances), then they should treat you in the same way.
